Eaton House The Manor Pre Preparatory - Mrs Philippa Cawthorne M.A., B.A, P.G.C.E.
Mrs Cawthorne joined the Eaton House Group of Schools as Headmistress of Eaton House The Manor Pre-Prep in April 2008 and is also an experienced inspector with the Independent Schools' Inspectorate. Mrs Cawthorne was previously Director of Studies and Head of English at Halstead Preparatory School, Woking and a Class Teacher at Farleigh School, Andover and Knighton House School, Blandford. She was educated at a grammar school in the Midlands and obtained her higher degree and teaching certificate from Southampton University. Before entering the teaching profession Mrs Cawthorne was an officer in the Women's Royal Army Corps.
Mrs Cawthorne has taught all subjects but her specialist subjects are English and history, which she has taught up to 13+ Common Entrance level. She has considerable experience as an educationalist, not only through teaching in independent day and boarding schools but also from inspecting schools and from having been a Governor of a primary school in Wiltshire and as a parent herself. She feels passionately that children should enjoy their school years and have access to the highest quality teaching and learning, which is something that Mrs Cawthorne and her dedicated team of professionals strive to deliver.
Eaton House The Manor Pre-Prep continues to thrive under Mrs Cawthorne's leadership and is a popular choice amongst parents for the education of their sons. With the emphasis on teaching a broad and balanced curriculum in a single sex environment, the school can concentrate on helping boys to achieve their full potential and have a considerable amount of fun along the way! Most boys continue their education in the Prep School when they reach the end of Form Three but a few move on to boarding schools.
In her spare time Mrs Cawthorne enjoys archaeology and visiting remote countries. She is married with two grown up children.
