Co-Curricular"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>At Eaton House The Manor Girls&#8217;\u00a0School we offer a comprehensive range\u00a0of activities beyond the classroom: clubs and societies, visits and residential trips, inter-school sports tournaments and academic competitions.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The benefits of extracurricular activities are many and varied:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Improved academic performance<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 by taking part in extracurricular activities the girls achieve higher grades and exhibit a more positive attitude towards academic studies than they otherwise might.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Learning life skills<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0working in teams, problem solving, leadership, setting and achieving objectives.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Increased self-confidence<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0entering competitions against their peers is a great way for students to improve their self-confidence (and not only for the winners).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Exploring interests<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0today&#8217;s extracurricular activity might be tomorrow&#8217;s passion.<\/li>\n<li><strong>A welcome break from school routine<\/strong>\u00a0and a chance to socialise \u2013\u00a0clubs provide a safe and informal environment where the girls can bond and relax after a hard day of academic study.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1 class=\"fsPageTitle\">Inter-School Competitions<\/h1>\n<div id=\"fsEl_10365\" class=\"fsPageLayout fsLayout fsOneColumnLayout fsStyleAutoclear\" data-use-new=\"true\">\n<div id=\"fsEl_10366\" class=\" fsDiv fsStyleAutoclear\">\n<div id=\"fsEl_21582\" class=\"fsElement fsContent\" data-use-new=\"true\">\n<div class=\"fsElementContent\">\n<p><strong>Every year the\u00a0girls compete in a variety of competitions against children from other prep schools around the country.\u00a0Here are just a few examples:<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"fsEl_21571\" class=\"fsElement fsLayout fsTwoColumnLayout fsStyleAutoclear\" data-use-new=\"true\">\n<div id=\"fsEl_21572\" class=\" fsDiv fsStyleColumn fsStyleColumn-1 fsStyleAutoclear\">\n<div id=\"fsEl_21574\" class=\"fsElement fsContent\" data-use-new=\"true\">\n<div class=\"fsElementContent\">\n<h2>IAPS Small Schools Netball Championships<\/h2>\n<p>With netball being our primary sport in the autumn term, we are not only keen to put out teams in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 for fixtures against other local prep schools; we also compete in national tournaments.\u00a0In 2017, our Year 6 girls very much led by example by winning the IAPS Small Schools Netball Championships.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"fsEl_21577\" class=\"fsElement fsContent\" data-use-new=\"true\">\n<div class=\"fsElementContent\">\n<h2>Gymnastics Competitions<\/h2>\n<p>As a result of recent investment in our gymnastics equipment and thanks to an experienced coach, our girls are rapidly going from strength to strength.\u00a0Eaton House girls are now winning medals at competitions such as that hosted by Newton House Prep School.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"fsEl_21579\" class=\"fsElement fsContent\" data-use-new=\"true\">\n<div class=\"fsElementContent\">\n<h2>SATIPS General Knowledge Quiz<\/h2>\n<p>Another national competition, the SATIPS General Knowledge Quiz, is entered each year by all the girls in Years 5 and 6.\u00a0After they sit\u00a0the quiz here at Eaton House, the papers are sent off and we eagerly await the results.\u00a0With thousands of children entering, the competition is always fierce, but in 2017 we were delighted that two of our Year 6 girls made the top 20.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"fsEl_21573\" class=\" fsDiv fsStyleColumn fsStyleColumn-2 fsStyleColumn-last fsStyleAutoclear\">\n<div id=\"fsEl_21576\" class=\"fsElement fsContent\" data-use-new=\"true\">\n<div class=\"fsElementContent\">\n<h2>Cross-country Races<\/h2>\n<p>One of the fastest growing sports at Eaton House, in terms of popularity, is cross-country running.\u00a0Over the past few years, our girls have achieved considerable success both individually and collectively.\u00a0For example, in October 2018, our team of Year\u00a03 and Year 6 runners began the season by winning the Garden House Cross Country event, and this was quickly followed by another victory for one of our Year 3 girls at the hotly contested Rosemead Cross Country race.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"fsEl_21575\" class=\"fsElement fsContent\" data-use-new=\"true\">\n<div class=\"fsElementContent\">\n<h2>Hockey Tournaments<\/h2>\n<p>Over the past two years, Eaton House Girls&#8217;\u00a0School teams in Years 4, 5 and 6 have won their respective age groups in the Dolphin School Hockey Tournament, which features a number of local schools.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"fsEl_21578\" class=\"fsElement fsContent\" data-use-new=\"true\">\n<div class=\"fsElementContent\">\n<h2>SATIPS Handwriting Competition<\/h2>\n<p>The girls have achieved a high level of success in the last few years with the quality of their handwriting.\u00a0Although this is a national competition, Eaton House girls have regularly been in top spot or highly commended in their respective age groups.\u00a0Two years ago, a member of the Girls&#8217;
