To mark the Coronation of King Charles III, the Eaton House Belgravia boys enjoyed a very regal school day. We were delighted to welcome two very special visitors, Captain Archie of the Irish Guards and Major Harry of the Lifeguards, who were both to participate in the Coronation parade the following day. The soldiers lead an exciting whole school assembly, in which they taught the boys all about the proceedings and the importance of the Coronation Day. Following the assembly, Year 1 were lucky enough to enjoy a workshop with Captain Archie and Major Harry. Learning to march, trying on their hats, and inspecting their sword and whip were all on the agenda for the workshop – all of which were met with very excited Year 1s. The fun did not stop there for the boys, as they enjoyed a coronation themed tea party in the afternoon, including some tasty traditional scones with cream and jam. It comes as no surprise that the boys could not agree whether the jam or the cream should be put on first!

Elsewhere in the school, the KG boys showed their creative and artistic skills during their biscuit decorating and crown colouring. A combination of icing, strawberries and digestives led to some delicious looking biscuits. The Year 3s also got into the coronation spirit through art and design; 3A and 3B combined to create a coronation wall hanging with a collection of panels decorated by individual pupils. We saw some wonderful drawings of King Charles III, Buckingham Palace and the Crown Jewels come together to make a spectacular showpiece.

The day was topped off with a fantastic coronation themed lunch menu. The boys chose from Coronation Chicken & Rice, Warm Bucking-ham & Cheese Quiche, and English Garden Salad, finishing the day with Coronation Cupcakes.
