About Us

Welcome to Eaton House Belgravia

Traditional in tone, yet modern, welcoming and warm in outlook, Eaton House Belgravia Pre-Prep was founded in 1897 and has a rich heritage.

The original school was opened by a Mr T. S. Morton, who was encouraged in this venture by the mother of a small boy that he was coaching – Harold Macmillan, the 1st Earl of Stockton and a future British prime minister. The school has continued to educate generations of Belgravia families and its boys have gone on to become successful statesmen, businessmen, and even, in the case of one or two old Eaton House Belgravia boys, Hollywood film stars!

We are a non-selective institution educating 180 boys from 2-11 years old. In 2023, Eaton House Belgravia Pre-Prep achieved some outstanding examination results; amongst a
cohort of 33 boys sitting 7+and 8+ exams, we received 18 offers for Westminster Under, King’s College Wimbledon and St Paul’s Juniors. The majority of our boys will sit the 7+ and 8+ examinations, as they always have done.

However, we believe that boys blossom academically at different rates. Parents can weigh up whether 7+, 8+, 11+ or even 13+ entrance is the best route for their son. Although we educate boys to age 11 on-site, boys aged 11-13 are able to transfer on a daily bus to our established sister school Eaton House The Manor Preparatory for the final phase of their schooling.

Traditional Values, Forward-thinking Education

The school offers the perfect blend of traditional values and forward-thinking education in an environment where there is a premium on pastoral care. Parents can be sure that their son will be nurtured to maximise his full potential. To help with this, we offer the boys personalised learning plans.

The staff are determined that every boy will feel known, supported and confident in his learning path. Boys are assessed by the whole management team weekly in the run-up to examinations, and parents receive written reports every two weeks.

Most of our boys have individual music lessons and some play several instruments to a very high standard. Beyond academics, sport and the arts are both central to our school life. A combination of on-site PE lessons and offsite games and swimming sessions enables our boys to develop key sports skills.

The happiness of our pupils is extremely important, and pastoral care is the cornerstone of everything we do. Our ‘buddy system’ helps to integrate the newest boys from the first day. The house system provides another layer of support and guidance.

We encourage every generation of Eaton House Belgravia boys to be recognisable for the strength of their intelligence and their moral integrity. We want the boys to thrive on the personalised learning plan they have prepared together with the teacher and to have fun.
