EHTM – CHARITY DAY FOR ROYAL SOCIETY FOR BLIND CHILDREN

Posted: 10th July 2019

On Friday 7th June, we held a Charity Day in Year 2 to raise money for the Royal Society for Blind Children. In the morning, we carried out some activities in our classroom but did these with a blindfold on. We did this to raise awareness of the challenges that a child might face if they are visually impaired. We played chess in small groups, turned our hand to some drawing and shared some books together. We had two guest speakers from the charity come to talk to us too. We played Goalball and an adapted version of dominoes. Goalball is a team sport designed specifically for athletes with a vision impairment. Participants compete in teams of three and try to throw a ball that has bells embedded in it into the opponents’ goal. It was super fun!
