Personal experience shapes the way we support children at Eaton House Belgravia. While we maintain high academic expectations, ensuring consistent attainment in the 7+ and 8+ assessments, we place equal emphasis on giving children a greater context for their accelerated learning.
We want our boys to understand the purpose behind their education, to stay motivated and, most importantly, to maintain their love of learning. Through our Innovation Centre and our new Little Luminaries curriculum, we ensure that academic rigour is always balanced with meaningful engagement, helping every child to develop a lifelong passion for learning.
The Innovation Centre is a cutting-edge learning space that complements our authentic classrooms, providing a dynamic environment where the boys will engage in collaborative, group-based learning every week. Unlike traditional classroom settings, this space is designed to develop leadership, teamwork and many other desirable soft skills through project-based learning and real-world problem-solving. By working in groups, the boys will be encouraged to take ownership of their learning, communicate effectively and think critically – valuable skills that extend far beyond the classroom.
All lessons within the Innovation Centre will be guided by our new Little Luminaries curriculum, which introduces children to essential financial literacy, ensuring they develop a fundamental understanding of money management from an early age. As they progress through the school, our older pupils will take on business projects designed to generate money for our chosen charities, allowing them to apply financial concepts in a meaningful way while learning about entrepreneurship, social responsibility and the impact of giving back to the community.
Additionally, we will be expanding our use of LEGO Robotics, which will complement our existing LEGO Wall – a hugely popular feature with our Nursery and Kindergarten children! This hands-on approach to learning will introduce pupils to engineering, coding and problem-solving in an engaging and interactive way, ensuring that STEM education is both accessible and exciting for all age groups. The Innovation Centre is a space for every child, with weekly opportunities to explore, create and innovate in an environment that fosters curiosity, resilience and independent thinking.
But it doesn’t stop there. One of the most exciting new additions to school life is our state-of-the-art recording studio for filming and podcasting. We know that public speaking, clear communication and confidence in presenting ideas are key skills for future success and our studio brings these elements to life in a way that is engaging, creative and most importantly, fun.
Imagine a Year 2 pupil sitting down to record a podcast discussing their favourite historical figure, or a group of boys creating their own news broadcast, complete with scripts and interviews. This space gives them the freedom to experiment with spoken language, refine their presentation skills and develop confidence in their own voice – all within a real-world setting. Public speaking is something that some adults find daunting, so by embedding it naturally into our curriculum through filming and podcasting, we’re giving our pupils an early advantage, allowing them to develop these crucial skills in a supportive and interactive environment.
These facilities add a whole new dimension to school life. Not only will they support our curriculum, but they will also enhance school-wide projects, performances and even parental engagement. We want our boys to experience learning that feels purposeful, exciting and modern – preparing them for a world where communication, collaboration and digital and financial literacy are more important than ever.
