Key Information

General Information

Children can join our Nursery at 2+, from the September following their second birthday.  They start in our Cubs class for 2 to 3 year olds and then move up to our Bears class for 3 to 4 year olds, spending two years at the Nursery before joining our Reception class at 4+. Places for entry at 3+ directly into the Bears class may be available but will depend upon availability following our 2+ intake. All places are offered on the basis of five mornings per week which is designed to aid the settling in process and allow access to all areas of our carefully crafted weekly curriculum.

Once Cubs are fully settled into the Nursery routine, and have the stamina for a longer day with us, afternoon sessions can be added following consultation with the Nursery Manger from after half term of the Autumn Term.  Children joining the Nursery direct into our Bears class may begin afternoon sessions immediately.

There is an option for both Cubs and Bears to stay for lunch following the morning session and leave at 1.30pm before afternoon activities begin. A nutritious hot lunch will be provided in Nursery and both cultural and medical dietary requirements can be catered for.  Lunch and afternoon session bookings are requested termly in advance.

Morning sessions  – 8.30am to 12.00pm

Morning sessions + lunch – 8.30am to 1.30pm

Afternoon sessions run from – 12.00pm to 3.30pm

On registration, your child will be added to our waiting list until our formal offers are made in around 15 months before entry.  Places are offered in registration date order hence early registration is recommended.  However, please do enquire if you are registering later as places often open up. Once offered, places are secured by payment of a deposit and return of a signed parental contract.

Girls at Eaton House Belgravia

Although Eaton House Belgravia is primarily a boys’ school from age 2-8, girls join us in the co-educational Nursery for two years, aiming at ambitious 4+ entry places to top schools like Westminster and Francis Holland.

It is the perfect option for parents who have already boys further up the school, or for those who value a structured and accelerated path to early learning in a magical and fun environment.

A key advantage of girls joining us at the age of 2+ is the notable development in their ‘behaviour for learning’. This early cultivation of ‘learning behaviours’ significantly contributes to their academic progress in Reception at 4+,  whichever school they leave us for. It also lays a robust foundation for their educational journey and success in the girls’ examinations at their next school, which are taken at 11+.

At Eaton House Belgravia, we embrace the importance of the early years in a child’s life. Our approach, termed ‘Compound Learning’, mirrors the principle of compound interest in finance, emphasising the accumulative effect of education from an early age.

Our curriculum, starting at age 2, is crafted to provide a blend of academic learning and personal growth. This method ensures that the girls in our Nursery are well-prepared, reflecting the impact of consistent, quality education from a young age. In creating this curriculum, we prioritise the happiness of our pupils, understanding that a contented girl is more receptive to learning.

‘Compound Learning’ at Eaton House Belgravia is about building knowledge and skills step by step. This approach helps the girls make significant progress, building a strong foundation for their future learning and success.

Girls benefit from a blend of exploration, play and outdoor activities. These can include cooking, yoga, dressing up, an introduction to reading and seasonal celebrations, and outings to Belgrave Square and other places.

This approach is complemented by early exposure to frequent, short, structured lessons, focusing on core foundational skills in maths and English. Such an introduction facilitates a seamless and intuitive transition to any more accelerated Reception curriculum 4+.

We can truly say that the Eaton House Belgravia girls will be ‘school ready’ and prepared when they leave us.
