An Amazing Art Auction at the Pre-Prep

Posted: 12th February 2026

Excitement was at fever pitch, as the Pre-Prep art auction got underway, with Mr Spofforth, a former parent of the PP and current parent of the Prep, as the auctioneer.

There were many incredible works of art on sale and some very competitive bidding from some parents who were determined to secure their chosen piece. Imagination was at a premium, and one piece, ‘Hold On’, showed a mixed media astronaut holding a number of coloured 3D balloons in space. It worked both as an art piece and a powerful psychological message.

There were many smaller pieces, from lights to statuettes and one magnificent mobile which twirled above the stage. Outside the main theatre, Sean was doing a roaring trade in tea towels!

The auction made £2,610, although there are still some costs to be added from the tea towels. All profits to the charity Momentum, which supports children with grave or terminal illnesses.

Well done to everyone at the Pre-Prep!
