‘I Love Sports – Specialist Teachers at the Manor Really Fix Your Technique’
George S. is heading to Dulwich College, although he is grateful to have won an All-Rounder Scholarship to Whitgift. The decision required a lot of thought and was a hard one. It was an impressive achievement as it required plenty of work. ‘I had to revise a lot before and I was very interested in the school,’ he says.
Sport has provided many of his favourite moments: ‘I love football, cricket and rugby – but I probably enjoy rugby most of all,’ he says.
The specialist teachers all ‘know exactly how you are doing,’ he says. ‘You get really good guidance and they can fix your base technique, which can be hard to fix later.’
George was genuinely torn between Whitgift and Dulwich: ‘I play rugby for a club and a few people from my club are going to Whitgift and it is a very good school. It was a great option to pick from.’
Eaton House The Manor is full of memories for George. ‘I came here in the Nursery and I have been here nearly 10 years!’ he laughs.
He has no complaints: ‘My time here has been really good,’ he says ‘There are not too many people per class and teachers get to know you. And the students are nice to hang out with, really nice people. It is really good education and provides a baseline to work from and get into future schools.’
As for a career, he is undecided as yet, although he did have a Careers Day. Wisely, he says, ‘Even if you do start off with a plan, life can take many turns. You don’t actually see the top of the staircase. What you find there could be the complete opposite of what you think as you go up the stairs.’
