We Should All Remember

Posted: 7th November 2025

Sunday 9 November is a very significant day for the boys and girls of Eaton House The Manor with a Remembrance Sunday service being held at Holy Trinity Church, Clapham.

It is a time to reflect on the nature of personal and national sacrifice and the cherished importance of peace, preceding Armistice Day on the 11 November.

Armistice Day has been observed every year since 1919 with a two-minute silence. Held each year at 11am on 11 November, the silence coincides with the time line in 1918 at which the First World War came to an end and is observed at war memorials and in public places throughout the UK and the Commonwealth.

Remembrance Sunday, held on the second Sunday of November, is a national opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life. It involves national ceremonies at the Cenotaph in London and at smaller events across the UK to honour those who have served and sacrificed in wars and conflicts.
The main event includes a service led by the Monarch, followed by a solemn two-minute silence at 11am, and a large ‘March Past’ of veterans and military personnel. People also observe remembrance by wearing poppies, holding local services, and pausing for silence in their own community.

If you choose to wear a poppy, wear it with pride. To donate, go to:https://www.britishlegion.org.uk/get-involved/donate
